What is PERKESO's rationale for processing benefit claims in cases of COVID-19 as a Service Illness now?

The implementation of the benefit claim process related to the case of COVID-19 as a Service Disease is seen to be timely when economic activity throughout the country begins to show positive development. It is also in line with the 'exit strategy' initiated by the Government for the country to return to an almost normal life after more than two years of fighting with COVID-19.

When does the effective date of claiming benefits related to the case of COVID-19 as a Service Disease start?

The effective date of claiming benefits related to cases of COVID-19 as a Service Disease begins on April 1, 2022, in line with the country's transition into the 'Transition to Endemic' Phase. All benefit claims related to COVID-19 cases for the date OB is confirmed positive on 1 April 2022 and after that date will be processed as a Service Disease.

If an employee is confirmed positive for COVID-19 before 1 April 2022, is it eligible to apply for benefits?

Yes, Insured Persons (OB) who are confirmed positive for COVID-19 before April 1, 2022, PERKESO will still process the claim as a Work Accident.
