SOCIAL SECURITY ORGANISATION MALAYSIA

JOB CARNIVAL 2015 ‘PERKESO PRIHATIN’

6th October 2015, Centre Court , Lower Ground, Nu Sentral Kuala Lumpur

SOCSO’s Return to Work Job Carnival 2015, which is in its sixth year will see 25 major employers including Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Awam, Mydin Mohamed Holdings, Aeon, QSR Brands, Pullman Hotel, and many others taking part to provide employment opportunities for persons with disabilities, for especially those with employment injuries or diseases through the Return to Work Program who have been rehabilitated and ready to return to employment. This Program which fits in with the Minister’s Key Result Area to address the pressing issue of inflation and the rising daily cost of living where under this NKRA, the RTW Program is included as one of the Key Performance Indicators of the Minister of Human Resources to address the concerns of poverty amongst persons with disabilitythat falls under the Ministerial Key Results Area (MKRA) of the GTP. Therefore, the objective of this Job Carnival is to ensure social protection for those with disabilities through employment to reduce the risk of this vulnerable group from falling into poverty and at the same time to contribute to the nation’s productivity.

The uniqueness of SOCSO’s Job Carnival is where SOCSO’s Case Managers and Job Placement Officers who are responsible for each case advice employers about the limitations which the participants have as well as what their strengths are following an injury or illness together with recommendations of what kind of jobs that may be suitable for them, with or without modification. During the Job Carnival, Job Placement Officers shall also offer counseling and resume facilities for the Return to Work participants in particular.

200 Return to Work participants from the Klang Valley, Negeri Sembilan and Melaka region who have been rehabilitated and ready for employment have been invited to attend this carnival. An interview skill workshop will also be held prior to the carnival to ensure that the candidates are prepared and geared to attend the Job Carnival.

Apart from the Return to Work participants, SOCSO’s Education Loan Benefit Recipients who have finished their studies and seeking for employment have also been invited for the Job Carnival. This Job Carnival is also extended to various NGO’s with persons with disabilities as well as job seekers in general.

The selections of employers are also based on those employers who work very closely with SOCSO in providing employment for Return to Work. Majority of the companies who are employers participating in this carnival have employed Return to Work participants and have also seen the potential of the candidates and have in fact created quotas which are higher than the average 1% of employment of persons with disabilities amongst several industries. Several companies have even promoted return to work participants who have been employed after seeing their potential.
